User agent from Google – what is worth knowing about it?
The websites we visit know that we use a specific device thanks to the so-called user agent. It is very useful because we can match the website that is sent to us to the capabilities of our equipment. Despite the fact that the user agent from Google offers practical possibilities, it is a tool used to identify users. It also allows websites to manipulate Internet users to discourage them from using particular browsers.
How to change the browser user agent in Google Chrome?
In order to change the browser user agent in Google Chrome, enter the menu, select “More tools”, and then “Development tools”. Now click the menu button on the right side of the “Console” tab and use the “Network Conditions” functionality (at the bottom of the “Developer Tools” panel).
In the “Network conditions” tab, we must uncheck the “Select automatically” box next to the “User customer” item. This setting is temporary and only works with the Developer Tools window open.
Remember! Changing the browser user agent in Google Chrome applies only to the current tab.
How to change browser user agent in Firefox?
Changing the browser user agent in Firefox is very simple. First, we need to access the about: config page. To do this, type about: config in the search window, and then click the “Enter” key. Now all we have to do is create the general.useragent.override preference. To do this, right-click on about: config and point to “New”, then select “String”.
The last step is to enter the appropriate command into the window that will be displayed when adding general.useragent.override. For Mozilla Firefox 5.0, it looks like this: Mozilla / 5.0 (compatible, Googlebot / 2.1; + http: //www.google.com/bot.html).
