TrustRank is an algorithm that performs link analysis to separate useful websites from spam and helps search engines SEO web pages in the SERP. It is a semi-automatic process, which means that it needs human help to function properly.
How does TrustRank work? Does it affect SEO?
The TrustRank algorithm enables search engines to better identify spam sites. In fact, it works similar to PageRank, because here we also focus on recommendations, i.e. links. However, they are not measured in numbers as with PageRank, but based on the link origin. Google determines TrustRank by manually checking particularly trustworthy sites. They should serve as the basis for a trust rating based on the assumption that these pages are very unlikely to contain direct links to spammy sites. These sites have the highest level of trust because they are spam-free and Google trusts the content 100 percent. It can be assumed that there are e.g. University websites, open source projects and websites from public institutions.
In addition, all outbound links from these pages are automatically logged. Pages that receive a direct link from this trustworthy source are therefore one “hierarchy level” below and are also rated Trustworthy by Google, but with a slightly lower Trust Value. With each “level” and thus with each subsequent removal of a page from reliable source pages, TrustRank decreases, with the distance being measured here in the form of a link.
Quality links help SEO. They are taken into account when determining the position. However, it is worth remembering that the “quality” of the reference is a subjective parameter. There is no definite answer to how to assess the strength of a link. Indicators such as DR or TF are only auxiliary.

– From then on, the amount of spam on the site increases significantly. As a result, these pages are classified by Google and other search engines as less reliable, and at the same time receive a poor ranking and do not appear in the first pages of search results.
